Non-review: A Body in Places [mary grace allerdice]
In March, Eiko Otake performed her solo project A Body in Places in midtown Atlanta as part of TanzFarm. This is not a review.
______________________________
her body is like a
flag of disruptive beauty. pure.
(flowers)
colors
discovering everything in front of us,
innocently, and as if
she knew all already.
traffic.
petals.
mouth.
channel of neutrality
not fragile
effort without strain
things have weight and
they are not heavy.
everything is
more important
because she
touched it.
when she touches it
tears tulip
petal more holy
for having been in
her mouth
been bitten.
she is everything she
touches looks at
wears
which is peace.
no otherness.
there is no time. and it has never mattered.
she knows
what time it is
when the traffic
lights change.
cry without distress.
stand where you are not supposed
to stand. when you are not
supposed to stand there.
(run).
wave red
that you wore.
touch everything.
gently. change
seasons. die publicly.
no bone in your body
has gone unnoticed.
notice every bone
in your body.
