Dream Life [jonathan sanchez]
My most recent work captures moments of my "dream life" manifesting itself in my daily life. The photos are meant to evoke the emotions that I experience while lucid dreaming. They are clear, vivid, pleasant.
Like my dreams, I create and control the space that I'm working in. The space and my command over it are what allow me to capture my dream-like photographs. If I don't feel in total control of the space—if the environment isn't ready—I won't risk taking a photograph. The space and I are collaborators. But we are also rivals competing for our version of reality.
My workspace exists on the go. My space is personal. I carry my Polaroids on me at all times while I'm working - There is no space between my photographs and me.
