gather
fLoromany loves to gather. We love thinking about what togetherness means and what shape it takes and makes.
Together with Volatile House, we invite you to propose a project that gathers.
Three projects will be selected for a residency in the summer of 2025. Select projects will be invited to live and work for a one-week stay in Montezuma, GA. That means three gatherings will be taking place under one roof. Artists are not expected to collaborate with other projects, but we welcome residents to begin to tune to one another. Proposed projects may likely transform over the course of the week. Gatherings have a tendency to do that.
In exchange for your stay, we ask that you document your gathering (either the process or your finished product) for publication. We are open to various forms of documentation, but it must eventually take on a 2D form as we will be publishing a book for our “gather” series.
some details:
Volatile House will host a separate live-in work studio for each select project. If you are submitting a proposal with a collaborator, please be prepared to share a bed. If your project requires more than one bed, please let us know in your proposal.
Volatile House is located in Montezuma, Georgia. Montezuma is a small town of about 3,000 on the eastern bank of the Flint River, north of Lake Blackshear, and about a 2 hour drive from Atlanta. The area is largely agricultural, particularly peach, pecan, and cotton farms, but Volatile House sits in the historic downtown district with multiple restaurants, a grocery store, pharmacies, farm stands, etc. The area is walkable, bikeable, and quite friendly. More on the residency here.
