I AM I AM [Kelly Blackmon]
KELLY BLACKMON
I AM I AM
When you are one
the dark comes easily
you give it a name
like “Abequa”
Writhing in the sheets
you touch lips
wandering through the night
you hold hands
her tears run down
into your mouth
you drink them in
remembering the ocean
how it felt to float there
suspended in time
only you
lonely you
Through self portraiture and writing, I am able to process the darkness that comes in waves throughout this life. Without the dark there is no light, and by giving it a name, I learn to listen and create from that space, instead of running from the discomfort.
